Death Pays Flora a Visit
Eric Roberts and I did a short film together called Death Pays Flora a Visit – he’s Death (handsome devil) I’m Flora.
We’ve done Valley Film Festival, Wyoming International Film Festival (yee-haw!) LA Short Film Festival
and Sept.27 & 28 at the Gig Harbor Film Festival in Washington State, and San Jose International Film Festival.
The director was Tanna Frederick, screenwriter Sy Rosen – who was on staff in the 80s when I did short-lived sitcom, “Spencer” with Chad Lowe as my son – before he left the show and it never recovered.
The producer, Eliza Roberts, is the daughter of my late friend Lila Garrett, also a TV writer and
director – and formidable activist with Americans for Democratic Action and later on the Advisory
Board of Progressive Democrats of America, which I chaired. Lila was the inspiration for Flora.
So I just dressed like Lila, wore my hair in an approximation of her coiffure, and talked like Lila.
I channeled her – and it was a ball. And, I hope, wherever she is, she enjoyed the comic testimonial!
